Taking “The Body as Billboard” to a new level

Two young entrepreneurs have developed a new marketing idea: using vests with built in televisions and DVD players to create “moving picture” body advertisements. These entrepreneurs have already sold the concept to a media network, which has used the technology to successfully promote the network at a recent football match.
The idea was developed after the two entrepreneurs realized that young people have become more outgoing. They prefer to go out of their house and watch television, for instance at pubs or restaurants, rather than watch television at home. The solution for marketers was then to put “televisions on people”. This resulted in a whole new kind of body advertising, the “TelePAK”, which utilizes a lithium battery to power a television screen and a DVD player to provide unlimited screening time. In addition, the TelePAK also comes with a remote control, to switch to another “program”.
The TelePAK is considered a revolution in advertising. Consumers are flooded with so many advertising messages that they tend not to pay attention to what is being said. In contrast, consumers have found TelePAK to be an interesting concept and they have been observed to stop and take a second look. Advertisers too are finding the concept attractive, as there are no parking costs involved. Because it is mounted on the body, wider coverage can be reached simply by moving the wearer to a different location.
Plans are now underway to include other features in the next prototype. The inventors are also negotiating with the organizers of other sporting events to allow TelePAK to be used to market other products during these events.
