Micro Sites

Marketers are also moving towards using micro sites, which is either a single web page or multiple web pages acting as a supplement of the main website. Micro sites are being used to provide information about one particular section of the website, or to provide details of, or promote, a particular event, product or range of products. They are also being used to specially include a wide variety of keywords so that search engines will rank them higher.
As an example, a dealer in party goods might create a micro site to promote its range of Halloween products, in order to strengthen its branding, as well as to provide a greater range of keywords for inclusion in a search engine. Similarly, a car manufacturer may launch a new hybrid vehicle, and then create a micro site explaining the technology in order to assist the purchase decision. Typically, if a company has two or more distinct product lines or brand identities, marketers create a micro site for each distinct product line in order to focus the marketing campaign.
Take the example of a florist selling and delivering flowers online. The marketing director noticed that demand was typically generated from three separate categories of clients, all of whom had different needs. To make the process of placing orders easier for all three sets of customers, the director set up a separate micro site for each set of customers. Each micro site was tailored to the needs of the target set, presenting only the information they required, and allowing them to located what they needed easily and quickly.
